Description:
As a Locksmith, you will perform a wide variety of journey level locksmith duties associated with installation, maintenance, upgrade and repair of all door hardware and lock systems. You will create, control and maintain the key control program in accordance with building codes, blueprints, standards and practices.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications (1300 Character Limit)
Completion of an accredited Journeyperson Locksmith Certificate from Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training.
Additional Required Qualifications (1500 Character Limit)
Alberta Security Services and Investigators Act, Locksmith License. Previous experience working in a healthcare,
institutional, or large‑facility environment. Familiarity with AHS facilities, clinical areas, and infection‑prevention protocols.
Experience with electronic access control, key control software, or security hardware (e.g., Sargent, Medeco, Best,
Assa Abloy). A minimum of 5 years' experience installation/repair of automated control doors and security systems
as well as revolving doors in an institutional setting. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, door hardware
schedules, and life‑safety requirements. Familiarity with CMMS systems such as SimpleK and E-Facilities. Valid First
Aid/CPR certification. WHMIS training. Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) training or familiarity with energy‑control procedures.
Fall Protection and aerial lift training. Strong customer‑service focus when working around clinical staff, patients,
and the public. Ability to communicate respectfully and professionally in sensitive healthcare settings. Demonstrated
reliability, punctuality, and ability to work independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team. Situational awareness and
commitment to patient and staff safety at all times.
Preferred Qualifications (500 Character Limit)
American Association of Automatic Door Manufacturers (AAADM) certification or other automated door manufacturing
training/certification. Ability to lift, carry, and move materials or equipment up to 25 kg. Ability to perform work requiring
standing, bending, kneeling, and ladder use for extended periods. Comfortable working in mechanical rooms, restricted
spaces, and active construction zones. Strong documentation skills, including work order updates and key‑control record
keeping.
