Our Facility Maintenance Division of the Corporate Facility Management Department is looking for a dedicated Journeyman Plumber to join the team. Position Responsibilities In addition to Facilities-related duties as assigned, this position is responsible for: Journeyperson level Plumbing work in the installation, service and repair of City-owned systems in buildings and outdoor facilities. Maintaining safe work practices and ensuring safe working environments. Promote effective employee relations and establish and maintain effective working relations with other City employees and with members of the public. As a team member of the Facility Maintenance Division you will appreciate working with a diverse group of skilled trade's related individuals who take great pride in the City we maintain. We achieve above-average results by encouraging our people to think outside the box and by continuously improving our skills and knowledge of new methods & technologies in the facility maintenance field. Qualifications Requires an Alberta or Inter-Provincial (Red Seal) Journeyperson Plumber certification to be submitted upon hiring. Thorough knowledge of the Plumbing trade including but not limited to Commercial, Industrial and Institutional plumbing distribution systems, natural gas boiler and heating equipment systems, irrigation systems, etc. Class B Gasfitter Ticket Required (Class A would be considered a strong asset). Requires a valid Alberta Driver’s License (Class 5 minimum). Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical and architectural drawings, specifications, and applicable codes. Working knowledge of MS Office Suite programs: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. Standard First Aid Certificate with CPR Demonstrated leadership skills. Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively. Ability to exercise mature judgment in dealing appropriately with staff, contractors and with members of the public is also required. Physical abilities to perform the duties of the position. Ability to repeatedly lift and move heavy objects. On-call duties as required on a scheduled rotation. Ability to work with a team or independently. Physical Ability to Work test may be requested prior to appointment to a position. Assets related to this position include: Knowledge/experience in building automation and management systems Knowledge/experience in recreational aquatic systems Knowledge/experience in recreational arena systems Hours The standard workweek consists of an average of 40 hours, with the specific schedule being determined by theimmediate supervisor. Compensation Starting salary $48.45 per hour as per the CUPE Collective Agreement. Benefits Comprehensive benefits package.
